Welcome to the spotlight, Leeds-based musician and producer Wonky Logic, aka Dwayne Kilvington. An upcoming force on the left-field hip-hop scene, Wonky Logic blends soulful electronics with crunk beats. The Mindmarket - EP marks his debut on Boom Better Records with six tracks of futuristic head-nodders that cement the young producer as one of the most exciting new prospects the UK has to offer experimental hip hop.
Owing as much to sample-culture as to his background as a jazz pianist, Wonky Logic sculpts his compositions with expansive space-age synths underpinned by clever bass work and off-kilter drums. His unique production style has a remarkably human feel; electronic soundscapes and beautiful harmonies are driven forward with a post-funk sensibility that grabs your ears and doesn’t let go.
“I guess my mum pumping reggae vinyls had a heavy influence on the music I make. The intricate basslines got me; Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, Steel Pulse plus all the rest got played daily… I recently DJ’d a set just using my mums vinyls, it went down pretty well...”
